Sometimes, teachers just need a quick tip to help with classroom management infractions. When I first started teaching, I had a hard time getting the class's attention to me after an activity. I don't like yelling (even in a nice way) and my class thought that the "Class-Yes" technique from Whole Brain Teaching was too silly. Half of the time, they ended up responding to me, but then laughed at how it was done! One teacher gave me a tip to start whispering, "If you can hear me, I'll need you to quietly put your items away and look at me." The students closest to me can hear me, so they start putting their things away, which gets the attention of those around them. The students think of this as a game and it gets their attention very quickly! What are your quick tips?
